Born October 24, 1923 on Brownlee farm at Prtty Prairie, Kansas. Attended grammar and high schools at Pretty Prairie, through 12th grade, attended Southwestern College, Winfield, Kansas on year before enlisting in the U.S. Army Air Corps, December, 1942. Completed pilot training March 1944 as 2nd Lieutenant, Army of United States. Completed Over Seas Training (OTU) in B-24 bombers about November 1944 and departed U.S. from Hamilton Army Air Field, Calif with a B-24 bomber crew on Christmas eve 1944 and joined the 27th Bomb Squadron, 30th Bomb Group, 7th Air Force, operating out of Siapan Island in the Pacific. I completed 7 combat missions, primarily against Japanese bases on Iwo. Thereafter returned with y squadron to Hawaii and remained there until end of WWII.
